Eligibility criteria

Greenwich Housing Society (GHS) provides affordable homes for rent for people approaching pensionable age who have a connection with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and neighbouring Borough’s south of the River Thames. Originally founded to provide affordable housing for older people (60 years’ of age or above), living in the borough of Greenwich, or with a connection with the Borough, GHS now offers homes to people with a connection to Boroughs neighbouring Greenwich.

As with other providers of affordable homes for rent, homes are only offered to people whose personal financial means are relatively limited.

To apply for a tenancy you will need to provide all of the information requested, if you are unsure how to answer any of the questions please provide as much information as you can. If you have any queries please email GHS using the contact details given on the application form.

The information you give will be used by the officers of Greenwich Housing Society to assess your application. The Society will not necessarily offer you a tenancy and receiving your application does not bind the Society in any way.

If your application passes the first stage of assessment, you will be contacted and your name placed on the Waiting List. When a possible vacancy is about to arise, an Officer of the Society will contact you to arrange an interview. At this meeting, you will be given more information and you will be asked to provide additional information in support of your application. At the next stage of the assessment, the Society wiii decide whether to offer you a tenancy and you will be invited to view the property. At each stage you will be informed of the Society's decision as quickly as possible.

If you are offered and accept a tenancy, the information you have provided as part of your application will be kept with other information on a tenancy file held by Greenwich Housing Society.

Information you provide will be handled according to the provisions of the Data Protection Acts: only officers of Greenwich Housing Society have access to this information and details are kept secure and confidential at all times.

If your application is not successful you will be notified, any information you provided will not be released to any person or organisation other than the officers of the Greenwich Housing Society.
